Drinking water wells

Building a well goes far beyond creating a simple water source; it marks the beginning of lasting hope and progress.

Specific actions we carry out: We build wells and water supply systems, continue locating water sources and bring water closer to the homes and communities that need it most wherever required.
We improve the quality of wells and water supply systems, conduct hydrogeological studies in the areas where we work, and strive to ensure that as many
homes as possible have access to drinking water in the most isolated areas.

With access to drinking water, people can maintain better hygiene, reduce the risk of waterborne diseases and meet their basic daily needs. Water wells can also relieve women and children of the burden of walking long distances to collect water, allowing them to devote more time to education and other productive activities.

Creating water wells not only meets a basic need, but also represents a crucial step towards development and the wellbeing of these communities.

How long does it take to build a well?

The time required can vary depending on factors such as the type of terrain, the depth of the groundwater and the availability of equipment and labour. The most basic well normally takes around 14 days—two weeks—to build.

Can I name the well?

Yes. By funding the construction of a complete well, you can choose its colour and give it a name if you wish.

Nepal, Malawi, Togo, Niger, Guinea-Conakry, Senegal, Tanzania and Côte d’Ivoire.

Will I receive photos and a video?

Yes. All the material will also be published in the archive available on this website and on our social media channels.

Does the well require maintenance?

Generally not. Local communities take responsibility for its care and upkeep.
